Site Visit to Rungis Halles Market

Hi Guys,

On Wednesday 29-Sep-10 we were hosted for another site visit, this time at the Rungis Halles fresh produce market originally located in the midst of Paris but now located in the south, close to Orly Airport.

Built in 1969 on a large & wide area, Rungis Halles is currently the biggest market in the world for fresh products (fruits, vegetable, meat, fish, flowers, etc). The market sees 18 million customers annually now buying their products & employs more than 12 000 people.

Quite an amazing experience to have seen the different types of organic fruits & veggies being grown in Europe and the volumes at which they trade at.

See pics of Albertyn trying to be a "Vleis-Paleis man" - he got so stuck into the details that he exhausted himself & slept on the bus. Way to go "al" just don't become a butcher.... check how neatly he tucked away the tail on the slaughtered cow before having his pic taken.
