I am now starting to see what a toll this whole train-thinghy has taken on Albertyn over the past 5 weeks of being here. He has been trapped between the train doors as it closed, by hydraulic cylinders nogal, (he was on the train & his huge napsak was caught outside - the look on his face was priceless, luckily we managed to force open the door to rescue him), the next day he had the exit gate slam him in the "you know where", then he almost got rode over by a bus (he was looking right whilst jaywalking, meanwhile the cars drive on the right hand side of the road here in Paris, unlike on the left in SA) - needless to say, it was yet another EISH moment for him!
Then, just the other day, he was squashed up against a woman in the packed early morning train. He reckons she hasn't washed her hair for at least 2 months, imagine that? Smelly breath, reeking armpits, etc. are the order of the day on these tube trains.
There has been a strike here in Paris for the past 2 weeks so you can imagine the congestions with the trains, when one is lucky to get one. We travel approx 1 and a half hours across the city each way (work & back) every day so you can imagine how frustrating it is waiting for trains & then still having to stand squashed up against hundreds of people for the full duration of the journey - check out how congested are the platforms below.
